Incorporated in 1982 as a 401(c)(3) charitable
and educational nonprofit, Nesenkeag Farm provides its fresh,
nutritional and organic produce to both the high end restaurants
and the tables of low-income families. For the last decade, with
the annual support of a grant from Share Our Strength, Nesenkeag
Farm contributes dollar-for-dollar fresh produce to the NH Food
Bank which is then distributed through its network of pantries
and agencies to the low-income families throughout the state
of New Hampshire. With the development of Operation Frontline
and the traveling food bank which services the needs of the new
immigrant populations, Nesenkeag Farm and the NH Food Bank have
worked together to improve their partnership. Low-income families
are educated in regards to diet and the value of fresh produce
and how to prepare it. Traveling food pantries connect Nesenkeag's
specialty produce with immigrant populations which recognize
the foods that are part of their traditional cuisines.
